The manual (http://docs.hp.com/en/B3921-90010/poll.2.html) claims:
    [EINVAL] timeout is a negative number other than -1.
This bug was fixed in stunnel 4.07.  Please upgrade!

BTW: I recommend to upgrade your HP-UX to version 11.0 or higher that 
supports posix threads.
