stunnel obviously expects the data (private key? cert?) to be in PEM
format, which means that the actual data within the file starts with a line

-----BEGIN CERTIFICATE-----

(for the cert) or

-----BEGIN RSA PRIVATE KEY-----

(for the private key). Verify that your file contains the data in this
expected format (as opposed to, say, DER format).
